On the Go

Lack of safe, affordable transportation for seniors is a problem recognized at the national, state, and local levels. Here in San Diego, there are more than 50,000 older adults for whom access to transportation is a daily concern. Compared with those who still drive, older non-drivers make 15% fewer visits to the doctor, 59% fewer outings to shopping and restaurants, and 65% fewer trips to social, family, and religious activities (American Public Transportation Association).

For an older adult who no longer drives, On the Go is more than a ride—it’s independence, connection, and the ability to live with dignity in the community they love.

Give a Ride: Volunteer With On the Go

Join the team that drives On the Go

We’re a team of volunteer drivers. When older adults make the tough decision to “turn in their keys,” we help them hold on to their independence by getting them where they need to go. Sometimes we drive people to the doctor, and sometimes to visit friends. We’re about helping our neighbors stay connected to the people and places they love most.

Make a difference – with just a few hours a month

  • You choose who, when, and where you drive
  • We provide secondary insurance and reimburse your every mile
  • Convenient, web-based scheduling system
  • Rides average 10 miles round-trip
  • Serving 26 ZIP codes across San Diego
  • Open to drivers and riders of all faiths

Ready to get started? Let's get to know each other.
